Kwaku Bonsu was sentenced to seven years in prison for managing the financial and logistical aspects of a massive smuggling operation that imported £4.3 million worth of c*nn*bis into the United Kingdom. The shipment, which weighed 1.5 tonnes, originated in Ghana and was hidden inside large sacks of Gari powder, a traditional cassava food product, to slip past border control. Bonsu used his personal bank account to make multiple payments to a shipping company, ensuring that the container was successfully transported from Tilbury Docks to an industrial yard in north London. On the day of the delivery, Bonsu acted as a lookout by driving his car in circles around the area and taking photos of the container to monitor the drop-off. His financial coordination and active surveillance on the ground made him a key figure in the conspiracy.
